California Board of Pharmacy License Defense Attorneys
The mission of the Board of Pharmacy is to protect the health, safety and welfare of Californians through, among other things, licensing, regulation, and enforcement. The Board carefully reviews all complaints submitted by consumers regarding licensees and investigates a variety of matters from allegations of a dirty or unsanitary pharmacy to incorrectly filling a prescription. The Board also investigates concerns of drug and alcohol abuse and criminal convictions. If the Board determines that a violation has occurred it has the authority to take action in the form of official warnings, fines, suspension of a license, probation, and even the revocation of a license.
Pharmacists spend many years learning the skills necessary to grow a successful practice. If you have been contacted by the Board or believe that you could be contacted by the Board regarding a matter that could affect your professional license, it is essential that you retain competent counsel to navigate the complex investigation process and advise you about the best way to present any exculpatory and/or mitigating evidence. You should contact an attorney immediately to preserve your rights and engage the Board at the earliest stage possible. At times early contact by an attorney can assist in preventing the opening of a disciplinary investigation by the Board, or can avoid the filing of a public accusation of misconduct. The Board offers a Pharmacist Recovery Program for pharmacists and registered interns who are chemically dependent or are suffering from a mental illness. In some cases, voluntary admission into the program may avoid the filing of a disciplinary action where a pharmacist or registered intern is successful in treatment. The program forecloses a licensee from practicing until the pharmacist or registered intern is deemed safe to practice.
If you have already been the subject of discipline and your license was revoked you may be able to petition for reinstatement of your license. If you are an applicant with a concern about a criminal history or past problems, we can assist you in crafting an application packet to give you the best chance of obtaining a license.
